Design or not design... Zitat · Antworten

Hello!

At http://sourceforge.net/projects/scrabble...esigns/Wings3D/ there are these three files to be found:

letter.zip
piece.zip
board.zip

How are these files to be used? They do not contain any design files, although the directory's name does suggest so.

These three files contain project files from Wings3D to create a Scrabble3d design as described at the wiki page. Could you please explain a little bit more where you've been stucked and what you expect?

I am not stuck. ;)

I followed the link to "browse all files", in order to get to the 64 bit Linux version. Then I found the subdirectory called "Design", and I was curious if there are interesting designs to be found.

Good to hear. :-)
You can load a different design file (*.dsgn) http://scrabble.sourceforge.net/wiki/ind...guration:Design or create (and share) your own (as demostrated with the three files located in the Wings3D sub folder) http://scrabble.sourceforge.net/wiki/ind...on:CreateDesign

Ok, back to square one... The zip files don't contain any files with extension ".dsgn". So what exactely is demonstrated with these three files?

Zip files at the Wings3D folder contain Wings3D project files (plus exported wavefront object files). Scrabble3D design files (*.dsgn; one level up) contain those wavefront objects files (or rather may contain) plus a special content.xml configuration).

The article should be sufficiently informative. So again: How can I improve the documentation?

I don't know if you can improve the article. I think the misunderstanding lies in the subdirectory itself: when a user looks there on his search for designs and then he finds the subdirectory called "Wings3D" without knowing what it is for, then the question what these zip files are good for comes sort of natural. I would say if you want to improve the situation, you could move this directory some where else, so that it is separated from the actual design files.
